TEAM ALBERTA

GENOMIKON: An Educational Toolkit for Rapid Genetic Construction

Building DNA is too hard. We have to be able to make DNA construction faster, easier and cheaper. In response to this demand, Alberta iGEM has created GENOMIKON: an inexpensive, self-contained kit targeted for the high school and DIY communities, but with clear potential for professional use. The kit is accompanied with a comprehensive online learning resource.

Continually developing the BioByte assembly technology created by the Alberta 2009 team, we were able to make this rapid plasmid assembly method amenable to a high school teaching kit.
