Once they feel they’ve got the hang of it they can dig right in using the online plasmid design tool to get started creating their own experiments.  When they save the plasmid it generates the protocol so they can start building it in the lab.  Then they can publish it making it public so that others can try it out as well.

Complimentary to GENOMIKION is a online lab manual and plasmid design tool, found at [http://www.genomikon.ca GENOMIKON.ca.] The online tool contains pre-made experiments, articles explaining various topics in biology, and an integrated glossary.

Students can use the online plasmid design tool to create their own experiments. Building the plasmid automatically generates the protocol to follow in the lab. Experiments can be published so others can try them as well.

GENOMIKION online is an excellent companion to the kit empowering students to go beyond the initial experiments we designed and create their own plasmid designs!
