GENOMIKON: An Educational Toolkit for Rapid Genetic Construction.
GENOMIKON is a kit designed to bring synthetic biology into the high school classroom. By integrating the BioBytes 2.0 assembly method and our innovative website, GENOMIKON.ca, we are making synthetic biology accessible, reliable and easy to use.
To learn more, see "GENOMIKON AT A GLANCE", and feel free to explore the rest of the site.
GENOMIKON AT A GLANCE
Achievements
- BioBytes 2.0 plasmid assembly technology.
- Plasmid assembly kit for the high school classroom.
- Online educational lab manual software.
- Demonstrated that high school students can successfully assemble plasmids.
THE SOFTWARE
Learn how to use the kit then, create and share your own designs!
BioBytes 2.0
Continually developing the BioByte assembly technology created by the Alberta 2009 team, we were able to make this rapid plasmid assembly method amenable to a high school teaching kit.
The kit
Everything you need to put together a plasmid in an afternoon.
