Collaborations
This year, as a team, we are really aiming high! And one of the criteria for GOLD is the collaborations some how with other universities participating in iGEM, and this can take multiple forms, from the development of new standards for Parts Registry and user-friendly Parts, or you may dwell into the ethics aspect and help fill out surveys. This year, we have done both.
Cambridge Part Development
[[Image: Unfortunately, our original plan was the use of Cambridge's VRDP part from their last year's project with the following characteristics;
Part: BBa_K274100
Name: VRDP
Location Plate3_6H
Plasmid pSB1A2
Base Pairs 3385
We we under the assumption that the part does what they said it does, but that didn't turn out to be the case. this resulted in several weeks being wasted in dozens of attempts to try and investigate whether their part was working or maybe something with our method was wrong. We came to the conclusion that their part was in actual fact not fully completed and so we had to ditch weeks of hard work and to go for another part.
Having said that and although, there was nothing we could do but take advantage of this situation and use it to help Cambridge redevelop their part.

Bristol BioSim Modeling
Throughout the summer, we have worked tirelessly to try and set up a collaboration with Britsol for them to try and model part of our genetic circuit.
