In order to identify whether a “Best Match” or “Best Matches” is to a Select Agent or Toxin, the NCBI-GenBank entry page is cross referenced with a keyword list. The use of a keyword list leaves open the opportunity for further content refinement over time to avoid false hits. In the case of toxins, keywords include, but are not limited to, alternate names of the toxin, the names of enzymes which are intimately associated with the toxin’s production and function, and the names of organisms which uniquely produce the toxin. For organism and virus entries, keywords include alternate names for the organism or virus, the names of diseases associated with the entries, and any toxins or pathogenic agents uniquely produced by the entry. Certain attenuated strains or groups of SAT are excluded from the Select Agents and Toxins list; these words compose an anti-keyword list. The presence of an anti-keyword in a GenBank entry page negates the presence of a keyword.
