Following the 10 weeks of the project, progress was in fact made in terms of lab work, wiki, modelling and human practices. See what we managed below.

8th - 10th October - I can't believe it's not buttery lane!

So after all going our separate ways with term starting, it was a good idea for the team to spend a weekend focusing on further work that needed to be done on the project and to collect ideas for the presentation/poster. Where better to spend our time than Teversal House in the countryside, where we managed to collect our ideas and make some final collective work on human practices. We analysed the interviews as a group and pooled our ideas about synthetic biology, which will be put into our section on human practices.

Sunday 24th October - Prezi

Our final presentation to Catherine Biggs, giving her the lowdown of what we're taking to the jamboree. We also updated each other with our completed work.

Here's a brief summary of what we've managed to finish:

Modelling

- Mathematical models of both systems. This was done to show how the system processes actually work.

- A system simulation to see how it would behave over time given different levels of input.

- Conclusions can now be made relating to the real system, but not with real values (future work?).

- A graphical interface produced to analyse the system easily.

Labs

- Three promoters with GFP in iGEM plasmids: HapR, CsrB and pgaA.

- Cotransformation of the system plasmid with HapR-GFP biobrick

Wiki

- Edits made to the homepage.

- Wiki content uploaded detailing fully the work done by us.

This is Sheffield iGEM signing out. We hope you've enjoyed keeping track of what we've been up to and we'll look forward to seeing you all at the Jamboree!
