In the 2010 iGem Gaston Day chapter we plan on creating a biological iron detector using techniques and procedures for the common high school laboratory that can replicate the results from the more advanced research laboratories in universities. We planned on making our iron sensitive reporter by combining an iron sensitive promoter with a constitutive RFP reporter.
