Sterile Agar Plate Preparation and Seed Placement

Materials

1. sterile seed in flask
2. sterile agar media
3. sterile hood environment
4. P1000 pipeter
5. blue pipeter tips
6. plates
7. parafilm tape
8. 70% ethanol solution in spray bottle

Methods

1. Sterilize items one by one with 70% ethanol spray, placing each item into sterile hood after being sprayed.
2. Once all is in hood, remove aluminum foil wrap from agar flask.

4. don't fill too much, use finger press method

Notes:

Keep head out of hood. Contamination from hair, mouth, nose, hands, etc. will infect culture plate with mold spores.
