Team:Northwestern/Sponsor

Hi,
My name is __________, and I am writing in behalf of Northwestern University's inaugural synthetic biology iGEM team.
iGEM, or the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition, is the premiere undergraduate synthetic biology competition which was founded in 2003 in conjunction with the Registry of Standard Biological Parts to enable the systematic engineering of biology and promote the open and transparent development of biological engineering tools. Since its inception, the number of teams has grown from five to one hundred and eleven from all around the world.
This year, our iGEM team will be undertaking one main project and one side project. The former involves engineering a colony of Escherichia Coli to mimic mammalian skin with chitin - a molecule most commonly associated with insect exoskeleton, and the latter involves generating uniform size superparamagnetic nanoparticles in Escherichia Coli.
As our iGEM team is in its inaugural year, we are currently sponsored solely by Northwestern University, and the cost of research and development can get quite high. The estimated cost of the entire endeavor including reagent cost, faculty salary, and travel costs, is roughly about $40,000, and our iGEM team would be very grateful if your organization could supply a portion of the expenses.
In return for your valuable sponsorship, the logo of your company, __________, will be placed in our team apparel, our team website, and in our team banner at the iGEM Jamboree hosted by MIT. Your company may also benefit from additional media exposure, as we have recently been contacted by an award-winning documentary journalist who is interested in producing a documentary on iGEM and our iGEM team in particular.
Thank you for reading; we would be happy to answer any questions you have.
Sincerely,
__________
