Project Abstract
We have placed genes from fireflies into bacteria to create the brightest bacterial light in the registry. We have combined this with an RNA-based control system for the induction of quiescence in bacteria to make the system brighter still.

We are the Cambridge Team for iGEM 2010, we are investigating the phenomenon of bioluminescence in fireflies (Photinus pyralis), Vibrio fischeri, Vibrio harveyi and aiming to transfer one or more of these systems to biobricks.
