TEAM ALBERTA

Visit From DiscoverElle

On July 14, 2010 the Alberta iGEM lab was visited by a group of 12 middle school girls from the DiscoverElle science and engineering day camp. DiscoverElle is an all-girls day camp provided by the University of Alberta's DiscoverE program, promoting science and engineering to young women. A team member gave the girls a tour of the lab and told them about synthetic biology, iGEM and the GENOMIKON project. They even had the opportunity to set up and run gels used in developing the GENOMIKON kit. The girls enjoyed spending time in our lab and working with DNA and we enjoyed having the opportunity to share our knowledge of synthetic biology with them.
