At the beginning of the summer, we run a set of workshops for iGEM teams. The purpose of these workshops is to provide background about iGEM and synthetic biology, to teach some of the fundamental philosophies and ideas of iGEM and synthetic biology, to pass on important information for this year's iGEM season, and to get teams to know each other before the season begins. For the convenience of the community, we run one workshop in the US, one in Europe, and one in Asia.

If your group is interested in holding a workshop, please see the workshop proposal page.

Dates for the workshops will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

Workshop locations

iGEM 2010 spring workshops will be held at the following locations:

  • Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, US
  • Calgary, Alberta, Canada
  • Evry (Paris), France
  • Hualien, Taiwan

Workshop registration

Registration information for each workshop will be outlined on the individual workshop pages.

If you need an official invitation letter, contact us and we will help you as much as possible. You must contact us early so that we can accommodate your request.

Who should attend?

Every team MUST send at least one instructor. In the past the workshops were targeted specifically towards the instructors. This year, however, students are highly encouraged to attend as well! Portions of the workshops will be specifically geared towards students.

You only have to attend one of the four workshops, whichever one you choose, but you must attend at least one regardless of whether you are a returning iGEM team or not.
