Dislikes: Día con día, la biotecnología incrementa su impacto en la sociedad; con esta disciplina es posible utilizar microorganismos y células animales o vegetales para producir bienes y servicios de mejor calidad y con un menor impacto al medio ambiente. Desde 1990, el Centro de Biotecnología realiza investigación enfocada a los problemas de la industria nacional y vincula el desarrollo científico con aplicaciones industriales, en áreas alimenticias, agrícolas, ambientales y farmaceúticas. Líneas de investigación - Biotecnología de alimentos Se trabaja en dos frentes principales: estudio de biomoléculas presentes en plantas y alimentos nativos mexicanos con propiedades terapéuticas; y desarrollo y optimización de nuevos productos y procesos alimentarios. - Ingeniería en bioprocesos Todo producto biotecnológico requiere de un bioproceso para llegar al mercado. Aquí se diseñan, optimizan y escalan los procesos necesarios para masificar la producción de un bien o servicio biotecnológico. - Biotecnología farmacéutica y médica Desarrollo y validación de efectos de nuevos fármacos; diagnóstico molecular de enfermedades; y cultivo y diferenciación de tejidos.
