Achievements
We have:
Had a fantastic summer, learnt loads and formed new friendships.
Run a series of Synthetic Biology School Workshops, and provided tools for others to follow suit.
Submitted 23 documented parts to the registry.
Contributed the PyrD and AmyE vectors to the registry and have used Dif excision to remove antibiotic resistance genes from our cassettes.
Tackled the problem of Neglected Tropical Diseases for the first time in the iGEM competition.
Extensively characterized the existing BioBrick part, 'XylE reporter gene with RBS (BBa_J33204).
align="center"| Submitted new coding regions for the histidine kinase ComD (K316015) and its response regulator ComE (K316016).
Designed a software tool for protease detection and protein presentation on the surface of B. subtilis.
Submitted a very useful, modular and natural BioBrick Part, the LytC CWBD.
Shown that the novel engineered BioBrick part, GFP-XylE (BBa_K316007) works as expected.
Developed integration vectors for BioBrick parts and devices which can allow integration of various cassettes into the B. subtilis genome, allowing disription of essential genes.
Based our specifications on modelling and human practices.
Explored the https://2010.igem.org/Team:Imperial_College_London/Human_Practices Human Practices] aspects of our project including the ethical, social, environmental, economic and political implications of our detection kit including the setting in which it would be
Managed to get loads of experimental results!
Helped other iGEM teams (including Warsaw, UNAM-Mexico and METU-Turkey) by completing their surveys.
Based our design specifications on computer modelling, which enabled us to decide which ideas should be implemented in our design.
Completed the whole iteration through the engineering cycle for each module of our system.
Explored the Manufacturing Considerations that we thought important to manufacture Parasight as a viable product.
Investigated the safety implications of the project as a whole.
