Medal Criteria

Documentation of a new technical standard that supports the design of BioBrick Parts or Devices: Update on BBF RFC 28 to make it compatible to Tom Knight's original assembly standard

Cloning Strategy

For Bronze

  1. Register the team, have a great summer, and have fun attending the Jamboree - OK
  2. Successfully complete and submit a Project Summary form - OK
  3. Create and share a Description of the team's project via the iGEM wiki - OK
  4. Present a Poster and Talk at the iGEM Jamboree. OK (we will)
  5. Enter information detailing at least one new standard BioBrick Part or Device in the Registry of Parts including:
    1. Primary nucleic acid sequence
    2. Description of function
    3. Authorship
    4. Safety notes, if relevant. OK
    5. Acknowledgment of sources and references OK
  6. Submit DNA for at least one new BioBrick Part or Device to the Registry. OK

For Silver

  1. Demonstrate that at least one new BioBrick Part or Device of your own design and construction works as expected; characterize the operation of your new part/device.
  2. Enter this information and other documentation on both the iGEM 2010 wiki and the Registry.

For Gold Medal

Any one of the following:

  1. Characterize or improve an existing BioBrick Part or Device and enter this information back on the Registry.

  3. Develop and document a new technical standard that supports the:
    • design of BioBrick Parts or Devices, or
    • construction of BioBrick Parts or Devices, or
    • characterization of BioBrick Parts or Devices, or
    • analysis, modeling, and simulation of BioBrick Parts or Devices, or
    • sharing BioBrick Parts or Devices, either via physical DNA, or via the Internet

  4. Outline and detail a new approach to an issue of Human Practice in synthetic biology as it relates to your project, such as safety, security, ethics, or ownership, sharing, and innovation.
