Korea U Seoul/14 July 2010

From 2010.igem.org

Regular meeting @ West building 121 SB, YJ, HJ

  1. Video discriptions and presentations
  2. Meeting with advisor
    1. Project 1 : He suggested we do both projects at a time
      1. Complement iGEM 2009 project topic
      2. Problems with iGEM 2009 project topic: When registering part, Not done in designated way but in our own way. As the purpose of iGEM is to STANDARDIZE data, it was considered violating diciplines, winning no medal. (The restriction site should have been eliminated)
      3. Complement: Partization, cloning in "iGEM way" - Make former result a capsule as a complete product. (Former presentation shows that we can check if the water is contaminated with heavy metal with Tylenol and E. coli) Since it is already shown that the circuit works, we can develop the result. We can put the tools in a capsule and provide the capsules to developing countries to check if their water is contaminated.
    2. Project 2 : Turning on/off the circuit
      1. Point : Have to check if we could turn a circuit on/off with one substance.
      2. Bioswitches are already reported. However, this research will be meaningful in the way that it uses only one substance rather than many. We'll try the simulation and if it doesn't work, we'll just back up...
    3. Overall
      1. Get iGEM 2009 contents and documents
      2. Get the topic done in a detailed way till the end of July, get schedules for planning & conducting experiments.
      3. Get the contents orginized and mail it to advisor to get comments.
      4. Contact the CEO of "BIONIA" to get budget.
      5. Join the google group to get iGEM 2009 documents to complement.
